The DevOps Engineering Team at Affinitas is responsible for building and maintaining our core operations infrastructure. As a key member of the global production operations team, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building, troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving foundational infrastructure, Such as: DNS, DHCP/PXE, OS images, patching, provisioning systems, load balancing (NGNIX or f5), CM, LDAP/S, backup, virtualization and more.
The successful Candidate will be versatile, with an extensive Unix Systems Engineering background with deep knowledge of UNIX/Linux internals (kernel/libraries,filesystems, package management, etc.), experience working with many open source technologies such as: (nginx, terraform, splunk, elastic, nagios, xsql, postgres, git, memcache, redis and ldap are some examples).
MS in Computer Science;
Experience with Ruby, Python
Building CD Pipelines, leveraging Jenkins, Spinnaker, Docker, Kubernetes, running on a AWS.
Understanding of MapReduce commands (Hadoop etc.) is good to have
The Experience to breakdown distributed systems, identify points of failure, and fix problems
Experience in troubleshooting Microservices Architectures, identify points of failure, and fix problems
Experience with automation tools used to bootstrap and provision servers / Infrastructure in a data center and preferably in an AWS environment; such as: Ansible, Terraform, Cloudformation, Chef, SALT, Puppet.
Experience and a deeper understanding for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Experience designing, building, testing, delivering and supporting fully fledged web services or applications
Work with engineering teams on design & implementation of new rollouts and large scale systems
Use your ESP to determine what is going to break and when
Act as an advocate for adoption of best practices in system design and support standards
A self-starter that is not afraid to dig in and spend time investigating or learning on their own, but knows when to reach out for guidance
